Stocks of firewood will be replenished in Moldova before the cold season
As of August 1, the Moldsilva Agency had about 57 thousand cubic meters of firewood for sale. Representatives of the institution told Radio Moldova that in the second half of this year the stock will be replenished by another 116 thousand cubic meters. In Chisinau municipality, the price varies between 810 lei and 1,300 lei, depending on the hardness of the wood. Traders sell the wood for between 1,200 and 1,600 lei.
Firewood can be bought in the Republic of Moldova on social networks, from various private suppliers and from the Moldsilva Agency. Prices on the networks range from 1,200 to 1,600 lei, depending on the hardness of the wood and the region. Sellers say firewood will become more expensive as the cold season begins.

At the same time, the price of a 40 kg sack of coal is almost 300 lei, while the price of a tonne of coal ranges from 7,000 to 9,000 lei. Last year, a tonne of coal could be bought for more than 10,000 lei.
The Moldsilva agency has made available to citizens about 57 thousand cubic metres of firewood, the deputy head of the Forest Fund, Protected Areas and Forest Regeneration Department, Sergei Tonofrei, told Radio Moldova.
"From the state public property reserve fund managed by the Moldosilva Agency, in the first semester of this year, a volume of firewood of about 227 thousand cubic meters was harvested. On 1 August this year, we have about 57 thousand cubic metres of firewood in stock. During the second half of the year, we are going to supplement the stocks with 116 thousand cubic meters, which will again be made available to citizens", said Sergei Tonofrei.
Thus, according to data from the Chisinau forestry enterprise of the Moldsilva agency, the price of firewood in the capital varies between 810 lei and 1,300 lei, depending on its hardness.
The Commission for Exceptional Situations has previously made some adjustments to the mechanism for distributing firewood to the population. According to them, the "Moldsilva" Agency sets the marketing limit at a maximum volume of five meters of wood per household and 200 meters of wood per non-household consumer.
