Marcel Ciolacu: Romanians will have 1.1 billion euros available for solar panels and energy efficiency
Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu announced that Romanians will have 1.1 billion euros available for solar panels and energy efficiency through the new REPowerEU plan to ensure energy security and sustainability. The plan, worth 1.4 billion euros, will be sent to Brussels for approval by the end of August.
The Prime Minister specified that over 600 million euros will be allocated for the purchase of solar panels and batteries for energy storage, and about 60 thousand households will be able to access this program, the value of each grant being about 10 thousand euros cumulatively.
At the same time, another 500 million euros will go towards home improvement in order to reduce energy consumption and, implicitly, bills by up to 30%. And a significant share of this money will be allocated to the vulnerable population and those in rural areas.
"That means making a plan that takes into account the needs of the people and not personal or group interests as happened in the past when this plan was rejected by the Commission! And I trust that the Minister of European Funds will get what is needed in Brussels for the Romanians and for Romania!", wrote Marcel Ciolacu on Facebook.
