Some 70 Ukrainian children born in Moldovan maternity hospitals since start of war
As the war in Ukraine continues, more and more refugees are fleeing to neighbouring countries. In the Republic of Moldova, about 70 Ukrainian children have been born in municipal maternity hospitals since the start of the war.
Vice Mayor of the capital Angela Cutasevici said that doctors have also consulted over 600 pregnant women and offered a wide range of medical services to all refugees.
"We have had 15,337 medical assistance requests in municipal institutions," Cutasevici said. "12,818 were in primary healthcare, 2,542 in inpatient care. At the same time, 8,341 requests for child healthcare were offered. In two municipal institutions on the territory of Chisinau, 66 children from Ukraine were born. We have had over 600 pregnant women in medical care and support."
The number of Ukrainian refugees in Moldova is currently estimated to be around 100,000. The country is providing them with food, shelter, and medical care.
