The congress aims to promote dialogue between the diaspora and the country, as well as mobilise Moldovans from all over the world in a common effort to promote and develop the Republic of Moldova. Diaspora representatives, who have already started to return to the country, specify that they expect to transfer expertise and find solutions to the problems that will be discussed on this platform.

At the Diaspora Congress, which is in its 10th edition, participants will interact with officials from public institutions and representatives of partner organisations. Two memorandums will also be signed with strategic partners.

Nadejda Zubco, head of the Diaspora Relations Office at the State Chancellery, said at the “Public Space” program on our radio station that "We are at the 10th edition and we are aiming to have a very large number of diaspora representatives. Today, on our registration platform we saw 230 people registered. This is a very good indicator and I would really like this indicator to remain until the last day. We have designed a very good agenda. Within the framework of this event, we aim to bring together diaspora entrepreneurs who want to expand in the Republic of Moldova or have already done so."

Oleg Chiriță, head of the Global Initiatives Directorate at the International Center for the Development of Migration Policies in Brussels, said he has high expectations for the Diaspora Congress.

"About 120 countries around the world have created diaspora agencies or diaspora institutions, and only 20% of them organise congresses or diaspora forums. So we are talking about about 20 countries in the world, including the Republic of Moldova. This figure is important, because it actually proves that the diaspora of the Republic of Moldova is recognized by the authorities, the diaspora is involved. My expectations are more of a human nature. Here friends are made, all kinds of partnerships are made to find concrete solutions that can be implemented immediately after the congress," said Oleg Chiriță.

The Diaspora Days will take place on 18-19 August in Chișinău and will be marked by two special events: the Diaspora Congress on 18 August, and the Diaspora Business Forum on 19 August.
