Government to launch new programs for Moldovan diaspora
The government of Moldova is planning to launch new programs to engage and support the Moldovan diaspora, the head of the Bureau for Diaspora Relations said on Friday.
Nadeja Zubco said that the government is committed to working with the diaspora to develop projects that benefit both the country and the Moldovans living abroad.
"We have many successful programs that we want to continue, but we are also open to new ideas," Zubco said. "We want to make sure that the diaspora has a meaningful role in the development of Moldova."
The tenth edition of the Diaspora Congress is currently underway in Moldova, and Zubco said that the government is using the opportunity to gather feedback from the diaspora on what kind of programs they would like to see.
"We want to make sure that the programs we develop are responsive to the needs of the diaspora," she said.
The Moldovan diaspora is estimated to be around one million people, and it is a major source of remittances for the country.
