Moldova, Ukraine agree to develop joint border control
Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean met with his Ukrainian counterpart Denys Shmygal in Kiev on Wednesday to discuss bilateral cooperation in the economic, energy, agricultural, infrastructure, and transport sectors.
The two prime ministers also agreed to develop joint control at the state border between Ukraine and Moldova.
Recean said that the two countries are contributing to regional efforts to ensure food security by strengthening cooperation for the transit of Ukrainian goods and restoring and improving transport, road, and rail infrastructure.
"On behalf of the people of the Republic of Moldova, I would like to thank Ukraine and Ukrainians for the fact that we have peace and security in our country," Recean said. "The Republic of Moldova is doing its utmost to help ensure that Ukrainians in our country feel safe."
Shmygal expressed his hope that the visit of the Moldovan delegation would contribute to the continued development of bilateral relations and productive dialogue between the two countries. The parties also discussed cooperation between Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova in further European integration.
