MEP warns Moldova: Pretenders to European integration will postpone accession date

If in the Republic of Moldova will come to power again politicians like in the past who will only pretend European integration, then we run the risk that the accession date will be postponed for a long time. The statement was made by MEP Siegfried Mureșan on Radio Moldova's "360 degrees" programme. However, Muresan expressed confidence that Moldovan citizens will not venture into the next elections and will decide to take their country forward, not backwards.

"The moment when the people of the Republic of Moldova voted pro-Russian is hopefully over. Likewise, the moment when dubious politicians with an unclear track record are voted in I also hope is over. It's time for people to support politicians who do what they promise, who have delivered results in the past and who have had a clear, assumed path, with no question marks whether they are with the Russian Federation or with the values of the free world. I believe that people have learned and will vote so that Moldova is not held back. But a possible accession to power of anti-European politicians or politicians who do not have the trust of the EU could be a brake on Moldova's European path. I believe that people will decide to take Moldova forward and not backwards," said Muresan.
