The pipeline, which was built as part of an agreement between the governments of Moldova and Romania, will supply drinking water to over 350 households and the village kindergarten in Macaresti.

A second water pipeline under the Prut River is also being built, which will connect Sculeni, Moldova, to Sculeni, Romania. In addition, a regional development project is underway to build a pipeline connecting the Prut River to Macaresti with 13 villages in Nisporeni and Ungheni.

The water that will be supplied to consumers in Macaresti comes from the Siret, Moldova, and Prut rivers. It is accumulated in the Iasi treatment lake, where it is allowed to settle for two months. After the water is treated, it is supplied to consumers.

The project is a major step forward in ensuring the availability of safe drinking water for the people of Macaresti and the surrounding villages. It is also a symbol of the close cooperation between Moldova and Romania.
