Moldova and the EU to strengthen defense cooperation

Chișinău, Moldova — Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean met with the President of the European Union Military Committee, General Robert Brieger, on Monday to discuss security cooperation between the two sides.

Recean expressed his appreciation for the EU's assistance in Moldova's defense reform efforts, which he said are essential to ensuring the country's security in the wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

He also noted that the EU is contributing to the modernization of the Moldovan Armed Forces through the European Peace Facility, which provides funding for military equipment and training.

Recean said that Moldova remains committed to strengthening its defense capabilities and that it will continue to work closely with the EU to achieve this goal.

General Brieger reiterated the EU's support for Moldova's defense transformation and said that cooperation between the two sides will be intensified.
