EU bans Russian-registered cars, other goods from Russia
The European Commission has confirmed that Russian citizens are not allowed to enter the European Union with cars registered in Russia, BBC reports.
The vehicle will be considered an illegal import, regardless of whether the car is used for personal or commercial purposes. The warnings have been confirmed by Russian authorities. The Russian Embassy in Helsinki, Finland, has already issued a notice advising Russian citizens to refrain from travelling to Finland with cars registered in the Russian Federation.
In addition, Russians are not allowed to import into EU countries goods and items whose import is prohibited from Russia into the EU. This includes, among other things, personal items such as smartphones, computers, and leather and fur items.
According to the European Commission, the import of gold jewellery of Russian origin and exported from Russia after July 22, 2022, is prohibited. The ban does not apply to gold jewellery for personal use of people travelling to the European Union, as long as the jewellery belongs to those people and is not intended for sale.
