All those who want to say goodbye and pay their last respects to President Mircea Snegur are expected on Friday, September 15, at the "Nativity" Metropolitan Cathedral, starting at 6:00 p.m. or on Saturday, September 16, at the Republican Palace, starting at 10:00.
According to the program, the funeral ceremony will take place on Saturday, September 16, and will begin with the state funeral at the Republican Palace. President Mircea Snegur will be buried at the Central Cemetery in Chisinau, on Armeneasca Street.
In an obituary published on the President's website, it is mentioned that Mircea Snegur lived in historical times and had an essential role in promoting the independence, freedom and sovereignty of the Republic of Moldova. He pleaded with certainty and verticality for the Romanian language and the tricolor - values that united people in thought and feeling, gathering them in the Great National Assembly Square.
"The President's speech to the people, on August 27, 1991, gave confidence in the free and democratic future of the country. "Long live independent Moldova!" - these were the closing words of his historic speech - words that united Moldovans in the years of national renaissance and now guide us in building a worthy future for our children and for the Republic of Moldova", reads the obituary.
