Moldova's European perspective receives strong support

Political analyst Mihai Saca said that the statement by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on the European perspective of Moldova, from her speech on the state of the Union, delivered in the European Parliament plenary, is a strong signal of support for the country.

Saca made the remarks in the "Parallel 47" program on Radio Moldova, adding that the statement is all the more important as a decision is due in October on whether Moldova is ready to start negotiations for EU accession.

"It is a strong signal, which also comes against the backdrop of Moldova's participation in the Three Seas Initiative Summit in Bucharest. And at this moment, we can say without hesitation that Moldova has open doors in Western chancelleries, regardless of who will take their place in these Western chancelleries after next year's electoral exercises in different European countries. The expansion of the European Union is also a necessity for the EU to secure the existence of this European community, because the illegal Russian military invasion of Ukraine has clearly shown that this Union of Health, as the senior European official said, needs to become a Union European of Defence," Saca said.

After the EU leaders granted Moldova candidate status on June 23, 2022, our country must meet nine conditions of the European Commission to start negotiations for accession.
