The European Parliament will adopt a resolution regarding the European course of the Republic of Moldova
The European Parliament will organize a debate and will adopt a resolution regarding the European course of the Republic of Moldova, in a plenary session, in October. The decision was taken by the Conference of Presidents of Political Groups in the European Parliament, announced the MEP Siegfried Muresan.
"The EPP group in the European Parliament requested the organization of the debate and the adoption of the resolution on the Republic of Moldova following an initiative from MEP Andrej Halicki - vice-president of the European Parliament Delegation to the "Euronest" Parliamentary Assembly - and from me, as president of the European Parliament Delegation for relations with Moldova", said Mureșan in his Facebook post.
Recently, the Italian Parliament adopted two resolutions showing support for the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union. Thus, Italy undertakes to reaffirm, in all European and international forums, its full support for the accession process of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union; to promote, including through bilateral agreements, a deeper cooperation of diplomatic relations with our country, including to support the reforms necessary for its accession and to encourage greater public and private investments in the country.
Also, the Italian authorities aim to develop, in particular, cooperation in the cultural, economic and training fields between the two countries, including by capitalizing on and involving the Moldovan community present in Italy.
On June 23, 2023, the Republic of Moldova completed one year since obtaining the status of a candidate country for EU accession. The authorities hope that by the end of this year, the EU bloc countries will approve the opening of accession negotiations.
