French defence minister to visit Moldova

Sébastien Lecornu, the Minister of Defense of France, will pay an official visit to Moldova at the invitation of Moldovan Minister of Defense Anatolie Nosatîi.

The officials will meet at the defence ministry headquarters on Monday, September 25, where they will hold a press conference, the institution said in a statement.

The agenda of the discussions includes topics related to bilateral cooperation in the field of defence, the prospects for developing the Moldovan-French partnership, as well as other issues of common interest, the source added.

Recently, NATO Deputy Secretary-General Mircea Geoană also visited Moldova. The official met with the country's top officials and stated that from a political and strategic point of view, Moldova belongs to the family of European democracies. At the same time, Mircea Geoană noted that both NATO and each NATO member country has good cooperation with Moldova.

In turn, Prime Minister Dorin Recean stressed that Mircea Geoană's visit is a sign of support for our country and noted that Moldova's intention is to revitalise its partnership programs with NATO and NATO member countries.
