Development plan: In the next 10 years, the Republic of Moldova plans to build new natural gas networks

About three billion lei will be invested in the next 10 years for the construction of new networks and natural gas production capacities, but also in the modernization of existing networks in the Republic of Moldova. A development plan until 2031 was approved by the National Energy Regulatory Agency.

The development plan of the enterprise "Moldovatransgaz", the main operator of the natural gas transport system on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, approved by the National Energy Regulatory Agency provides strategic directions for ensuring the supply of natural gas to consumers in the Republic of Moldova, including those from left of the Nistru. Thus, in this Plan, measures are provided to ensure gas supply in reverse mode through the main gas pipelines in the south of the country, namely, Razdelnaia-Ismail and Shebelinka-Dnepropetrovsk-Krivoi Rog-Ismail through the Orlovka gas measuring station in the Balkan countries or from the Turkish stream. According to the document, the gas consumption measurement point in Tocuz, Căușeni district, which ensures the methane supply of Chisinau, is to be rebuilt and modernized. Also, the Drochia - Ungheni main gas transport pipeline will be built with a length of 87.5 kilometers and a transport capacity of 3.27 billion cubic meters of gas per year. According to "Moldovatransgaz", the pipeline will ensure the interconnection of the gas transport network system in the direction of Romania - Republic of Moldova - Ukraine, improving market competition and the security of methane supply for the Balkan region and Eastern Europe. In addition, it will allow the use of natural gas storage facilities in the largest storage facility on the territory of Ukraine, with a total storage capacity of 32 billion cubic meters.
