In his will, published by the Cartier publishing house, Ion Druță mentioned that he wanted to be buried, in Soroca, near the Candle of Gratitude, "the monument, to which I dedicated sixteen years of my life". "I ask to be buried quietly and modestly, without long speeches and stopovers in different places, maybe with the exception of the National Theater, where indeed the lines of my heroes can still be heard," wrote the deceased writer in his will, made in August 2023, in Russian.

Ion Druță says that he would like an orchard of walnuts and cherries to be planted, from the trees he described in his short stories, which he liked, but he was unable to plant them.
