Problems in Moldovan education system to be resolved gradually
The Republican Contest "Teacher of the Year" has named its 9 winners. The teachers who placed first were awarded 50,000 lei each and were awarded the title "Teacher of the Year." Those in second place received 25,000 lei each and the Ministry of Education and Research's Honorary Diploma, while those in third place received 15,000 lei each and the Ministry's Honorary Diploma.

The nine winners of the contest and their nominations are:
Lecture of the Year:
- First place - Pavel Polișciuc, a lecture of universal literature at the Dimitrie Cantemir Theoretical Lyceum in Bălți
- Second place - Rodica Jăpălău, a lecture of Romanian language and literature at the Iulia Hașdeu Theoretical Lyceum in Chișinău
- Third place - Lilia Gânu, a lecture of geography at the Mihail Sadoveanu Theoretical Lyceum in Hâncești.
Teacher of the Year:
- First place - Valentina Iazinschi, Liceul Teoretic "Petru Rareș" in Soroca
- Second place - Diana Castraveț, Liceul Teoretic "Petre Ștefănucă" in Ialoveni
- Third place - Aurel Leșcic, Școala Primară "Spiridon Vangheli" nr. 21 from Bălți
Educator of the Year:
- First place - Dorina Tronciu, Poienița Early Childhood Institution in Malcoci, Ialoveni District
- Second place - Mariana Popa, Early Childhood Institution nr. 6 "Mărțișor" in Sângerei
- Third place - Elena Melnic, Early Childhood Institution nr. 197 in Chișinău
Present at the event, President Maia Sandu, said that the quality of education will determine the quality of life in the decades to come.
In turn, Minister Dan Perciun said that the problems in the education system will be resolved gradually, as it takes time and resources.
This year, 55 teachers from all over the country participated in the republican stage of the contest.
The "Teacher of the Year" contest has been organized since 2006.
