Moldova needs to increase its presence in EU institutions, experts say
Moldova needs to increase its presence in European Union institutions, including the European Parliament, in order to better understand the EU's decision-making process and to advocate for its interests, experts told Radio Moldova.
"Moldova must take advantage of all opportunities to integrate into European institutions in order to have representatives who can not only observe processes and trends, but also transmit messages back home so that we can be much more efficient in all reforms," said Victoria Roșa, an expert at the Association for External Policy.
Moldova is making progress on some of the nine conditions set by the European Commission, said MEP Ramona Strugariu. However, she noted that judicial reform is a long-term process, and the European Commission will take into account Moldova's efforts and consistency in this area, not necessarily the complete reform of the system.
"There are some steps that have been taken, but I don't think anyone expects everything to have happened at this point and for everything to be perfect and irreversible," Strugariu told the same talk show. "I think rather, they will look at the consistency of the efforts and the consistency with which some things that have begun continue."
The European Parliament adopted a resolution on October 5 recommending that the European Council start accession negotiations with Moldova by the end of 2023.
