Israel's president says Iran is partly to blame for Hamas attacks
Israeli President Isaac Herzog said that Iran is partly responsible for the large-scale attack by Hamas, adding that the war will not end quickly, informs Agerpres.ro.
The "unforgivable sin" was not only "led by a criminal terrorist organization", "but also by an evil axis whose base is in Iran", the Israeli head of state said on Sunday evening, in a speech addressed to the nation.
Iran's representatives, he said, are working tirelessly to dismantle Israel.
President Herzog also told the Israelis that the fighting would last a long time.
"Such a war does not end in an instant," and hard days lie ahead, he said. "We are at war for our homes." "The State of Israel will win this time as well. We have no other option."
Hezbollah, the Shiite militant group with close ties to Iran, has previously expressed solidarity with Hamas.
Hezbollah claimed responsibility for a rocket fire from southeast Lebanon into Israeli-occupied territories on Sunday.
