Russian forces bombarded southern Kherson region and other parts of Ukraine

On Sunday, Russian forces bombed the southern region of Kherson and other parts of Ukraine, killing at least two people and injuring 12 others, reports Agerpres.ro.

The general in charge of Ukraine's ground forces said troops were advancing on the eastern front as part of Kiev's counteroffensive.

The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that its troops repelled attacks on five sectors of the front, which is 1,000 kilometers long.

The Russian side reports that its forces have repelled attacks near the front's focal point in eastern Ukraine, Bahmut, but also further north.

Oleksandr Prokudin, the governor of the Kherson region, said one man had died in Russian shelling in the northern part of the region. Prokudin had earlier reported that 12 people were injured in attacks on several towns.

Russian troops abandoned the city of Kherson and the west bank of the Dnieper late last year, but now regularly shell these areas from positions on the east bank.

In northeastern Kharkiv region, Governor Oleh Sînehubov said one man had died in shelling near the border with Russia. In its report on Sunday evening, the General Staff stated that Ukrainian troops repelled Russian attacks in five areas of the eastern front, including Bahmut.

In the south, Ukrainian troops have captured several villages as they move toward the Sea of Azov in an effort to break a land bridge created by Russian forces occupying areas of southern and eastern Ukraine.

Oleksandr Stupun, a spokesman for troops in the south, told national television that Russian troops had started using older weapons, howitzers and cannons, evidence that Ukrainian forces had managed to eliminate enemy equipment.
