PM: Moldova confident it can meet security challenges
Moldova's Prime Minister Dorin Recean said on Thursday that the country is capable of meeting the unprecedented security challenges it faces.
In a statement in Chisinau, Recean highlighted that the biggest threats to the country are the aggressive policy of the Russian Federation and the deeply rooted corruption.
He referred to the war in Ukraine, which has created a new security situation in the region, and the military conflict in Israel, which has shown that even regions considered to be relatively stable are not immune to risks.
Recean expressed confidence that Moldova is capable of meeting these challenges, pointing to the recently adopted national security strategy that defines the dangers to the country's security and the proposed lines of action for consolidating national security and the security of every citizen.
The national security strategy is based on these essential objectives:
- Consolidating the defence sector
- Resolving the Transnistrian conflict peacefully
- Developing international security partnerships
- Fighting corruption
- Contributing to regional and international security
