Over 30 countries to meet in Moldova for fourth Support Platform meeting
Over 30 countries and dozens of international and financial organisations will meet in Chisinau on Tuesday, October 17, for the fourth edition of the Support Platform for Moldova, launched at the initiative of Romania, Germany, and France.
The meeting will focus on mobilising support for three main areas of development in Moldova: budgetary support, the creation of an Infrastructure Fund, and a Residential Fund for energy efficiency.
According to the conference agenda, a series of memorandums will be signed for Moldova, after which the event will be opened by Prime Minister Dorin Recean, according to a government press release. The Platform's co-founders - the heads of the French, German, and Romanian delegations - will also deliver opening remarks.
Participants will then discuss the presentations given by Energy Minister Victor Parlicov and Infrastructure and Regional Development Minister Andrei Spînu. After a roundtable discussion, officials will present results and conclusions from the thematic working groups, which are organized around six pillars: humanitarian effort, energy, fighting corruption, border management, financial assistance, administrative reform, and public finance management, the source notes.
The event will conclude with a speech by President Maia Sandu, followed by a press conference with the foreign ministers of the four countries - France, Germany, Romania, and Moldova. The conference will be livestreamed on the government's Facebook page.
At previous meetings of the Support Platform for Moldova, held in Berlin, Paris, and Bucharest, the country received support for offsetting electricity bill costs, providing assistance to farmers, and implementing infrastructure projects.
