European officials gathered at the Moldova Support Platform announce financial support for social projects and energy development
The Moldova Support Platform has become an instrument that helps our country go through several crises and face challenges, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nicu Popescu. The head of diplomacy from Chisinau emphasized that the previous editions of the Platform resulted in remarkable results and indispensable support for our country.
"This platform helped our country to strengthen resilience, green transition, infrastructure development and today we will discuss Moldova's development plans"
Meanwhile, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of France, Catherine Colonna, said that the Republic of Moldova will receive financial support for social support projects and UNICEF programs, at the fourth edition of the Moldova Support Platform. The official stated that the French Development Agency will boost its activity in the Republic of Moldova, in order to modernize the energy sector and bring our country closer to the European energy network. The translated message follows.
"Winter is approaching and I am announcing the contribution of 300 million euros more to finance projects (...). Bringing Moldova closer to the European energy network, 40 million are dedicated in this regard. We will invest for the next three years a total of 200 million euros".
Catherine Colonna also emphasized that the French Development Agency will launch a project in the Republic of Moldova focused on reforesting the country and combating climate change.
For its part, Germany announces that it will continue to financially support the Republic of Moldova for the reforms implementation. According to the head of German diplomacy, Annalena Baerbock, our country has managed to overcome economic and political challenges.
"Our Energy Vulnerability Reduction Fund has helped Moldova cope with rising energy prices and provide security for Moldovan families. Germany not only cooperates with France in the energy sector, but we will continue our support in 2024 with a total value of 95 million euros".
The Republic of Moldova is still exposed to the consequences of the war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, and the Support Platform for Moldova and the working groups aim to respond to these challenges that our country is facing, declared the General Secretary of State of Romania, Mircea Abrudean. According to the official, in this complicated context Chisinau managed to take important steps in a short time to improve its resilience and energy efficiency. The translated message follows.
"The joint support offered to Moldova is necessary to continue prosperity, but we are trying to have a more strategic partnership with Moldova to support key priorities, such as promoting reforms and moving forward on the European path".
The Moldova Support Platform is an initiative of France, Germany and Romania that aims to generate immediate political, financial and material assistance, as well as in-depth expertise for the democratic reform process, from the institutions and member states of the European Union, the G7 countries, international financial institutions and international organizations, as well as other development partners.
The purpose of the Conferences is to mobilize, to concentrate and to coordinate the political, technical and financial support of the developed countries for the Republic of Moldova.
