Moldova Support Platform // Catherine Colonna: We are with the Republic of Moldova, on its way to join the European Union
The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of France, Germany, Romania and the Republic of Moldova make statements at the end of the 4th edition of the Moldova Support Platform.
Nicu Popescu thanked the participants of the Moldova Support Platform, for their presence in Chisinau. This Platform proves that our country has friends who support peace, stability, development and the European path of the Republic of Moldova.
"Thanks to the support received by the Republic of Moldova, thanks to the attachment and dedication of our citizens to keep our country in the area of peace, stability and European democracy, together with our partners, in the last year and a half we managed to manage and to avoid several crises . In the new context, we will focus on the work of the Platform more and more on the economic development, modernization of the Republic of Moldova", declared the head of diplomacy from Chisinau.
For her part, the French Foreign Minister, Catherine Colonna, emphasized that Russia's bombing of the Ukrainian energy infrastructure could also affect the Republic of Moldova. She said that France will continue to support our country. Thus, the French Development Agency will offer 65 million euros for the development of the energy sector in the next 3 years. Germany will also provide an additional contribution of three million euros so that the United Nations agencies can act here on behalf of the refugees, so that they can respond to the needs that are more important during the cold period of the year. "On this path of Moldova's approach to Europe, we are with Moldova", pointed out Catherine Colonna.
The German ambassador in Chisinau, Margret Uebber, announced that the Republic of Moldova will continue to be helped by the federal government. The diplomat stated that Germany supports the European path of our country.
The General Secretary of State of Romania, Mircea Abrudean, emphasized that the presence of external partners in Chisinau proves solidarity with the Republic of Moldova, and that thanks to this support our state is more stable. Mircea Abrudean, declared that Romania will always be with the Republic of Moldova. At the beginning of the event, the Minister of Foreign Affairs from Paris, Catherine Colonna, announced a support of 200 million euros for the Republic of Moldova. The head of diplomacy in Paris said that the French Development Agency will boost its activity in the Republic of Moldova, in order to modernize the energy sector and bring our country closer to the European energy network. According to the head of German diplomacy, Annalena Baerbock, our country has managed to overcome economic and political challenges.
The Republic of Moldova is still exposed to the consequences of the war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, and the Moldova Support Platform and the working groups aim to respond to these challenges that our country is facing, declared the General Secretary of State of Romania, Mircea Abrudean. The Moldova Support Platform is an initiative of France, Germany and Romania that offers political, financial and material assistance.
