Maia Sandu: " We need a functional state to ensure equal chances and opportunities for women "
Violence against women, unfair pay, employment of mothers with several children, are the main problems facing the Republic of Moldova, said President Maia Sandu at the "Women's Forum 2023", which is being held today in Bulboaca, Anenii Noi district . According to the head of state, the Chisinau authorities are making considerable efforts to solve these problems. Maia Sandu said that the country's objective is to consolidate democracy, European integration and peace.
"We have to get involved in every locality, regionally, nationally and internationally. Let's support each other as democrats and support each other in our desire to keep the peace. For the Republic of Moldova, the safest way for democracy, peace, well-being, is European integration, and this is an objective that must unite us all, and first of all, it must unite the women in the politics of the Republic of Moldova, in the business environment, in civil society, from the academic environment. This is our country's objective and we cannot have divergences here (...) To ensure equal chances and opportunities for women, we need a functional state, without corruption, with consolidated institutions".
We remind that today is the first edition of the Women's Forum 2023 - an event attended by over 170 women and approximately 30 national and international panelists. The forum is an inclusive platform through which the organizers aim to highlight the role of women in society, to promote the importance of respecting women's rights and to highlight the role of gender equality.
