Bombing of Gaza heavier than previous evenings
Reports suggest intense Israeli bombardment of Gaza by air, heavier than in previous evenings, while all internet and phone communications appear to be out in the territory, CNN reports.
It’s not clear whether or not this is a precursor to any ground offensive; earlier reports suggested that discussions were making progress about a possible ceasefire linked to the release of hostages held in Gaza.
In parallel, communications and the Internet were cut off in the Gaza Strip, according to the Hamas-led government. The bombardments carried out "from the air, from the sea and from the ground are "the most violent since the beginning of the war" on October 7, the press service of the Hamas government, which is in power in Gaza, said, accusing Israel of "preparing massacres ".
"Without a fundamental change, the population of Gaza will suffer an unprecedented avalanche of human suffering," UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned on Friday, quoted by AFP.
*"Everyone must take responsibility. It is a moment of truth, History will judge us," Antonio Guterres said in a statement read by his spokesman, stressing that "the humanitarian system in Gaza is facing a total collapse, with unimaginable consequences for more than two million civilians ".
