Jens Stoltenberg backs Ukraine's independence and calls for more support amid 'terrible situation' on the battlefield
Ukraine must retain its status as an independent state in Europe, said NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. According to the official, the war-torn country needs more help from the North Atlantic Alliance and other partners because the situation on the battlefield is "terrible", writes Unian.
Kyiv must maintain its status as a sovereign state in Europe, therefore it is in the Alliance's interest to properly support Ukraine, said NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at the EU Council of Ministers on Foreign Relations in Defense Matters .
"I expect that during the meeting we will review the situation in Ukraine, where intense fighting continues. The situation on the battlefield is dire, and this makes it even more important to continue and to increase our support for Ukraine," he said. He stressed that the world cannot allow Putin to win.
"Ukraine must remain an independent sovereign state in Europe and it is in our interest to support Ukraine," Stoltenberg stressed. We remind that during November 13-14, the Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) of the European Union met in Brussels to discuss topics related to Russia's aggression against Ukraine, the latest developments regarding Armenia and Azerbaijan, the situation in Israel. The event is chaired by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell.
The FAC is made up of foreign affairs ministers from all EU member states. Depending on the agenda, the Council also brings together: defense ministers (common security and defense policy), development ministers (development cooperation), trade ministers (common commercial policy).
