Deputies from 16 states will participate in the Meeting of the member states of the Central European Initiative

Deputies from 16 states are expected on November 27, in Chisinau, to participate in the Meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Parliamentary Dimension of the Central European Initiative (ICE). The event will take place in the premises of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova. According to a press release issued by the Legislative, the deputies will debate the topic related to the support of European integration and the promotion of the sustainable development of the ICE region.

During the opening of the event, speeches will be made by the Parliament Speaker, Igor Grosu, the Secretary General of the ICE, Roberto Antonione, and the interim President of the Parliamentary Dimension of the Central European Initiative, Igor Chiriac. The vice-president of the Parliament, Mihail Popșoi, the president of the Foreign Policy and European Integration Commission, Doina Gherman, the president of the Economy, Budget and Finance Commission, Radu Marian, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration and the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova will also participate in the event.

The meetings of the three general committees of the Parliamentary Assembly will also take place throughout November 27: the general committee for political and internal affairs, the general committee for economic affairs and the general committee for cultural affairs. At the end of the debates, the final document of the meeting will be adopted.

We remind that, in 2023, the Republic of Moldova holds the Presidency of the Central European Initiative. ICE is the oldest and largest intergovernmental forum for regional cooperation in Central Europe, promoting political, economic, cultural and scientific cooperation between member states.

ICE's political cooperation objective consists in offering countries and their institutions a flexible platform for regional cooperation, while also focusing on their preparation for future accession to the European Union.

The Republic of Moldova has been a member of the Central European Initiative since 1996.
