Moldova border crossings closed due to bad weather
Several border crossings in Moldova have been temporarily closed due to severe weather conditions, according to the Customs Service of Moldova.
The Cahul-Oancea border crossing with Romania has been closed by Romanian authorities due to the weather. At the Palanca border crossing with Ukraine, strong winds damaged internet cables, and traffic is being diverted to Tudora.
The Molovata border crossing, which is a river port, has also been closed due to strong winds that are disrupting traffic on the Dniester River. All other border crossings and internal customs checkpoints are operating normally.
The situation at border crossings and customs checkpoints can change suddenly due to the blizzard and the condition of the roads.
"For the safety of citizens, we recommend avoiding long-distance travel," the Customs Service said. "If you must travel, make sure your heating system is working properly, your fuel tank is full, and your car is equipped for winter driving."
The weather has also caused power outages in 109 villages in central and southern Moldova. Snowfall and strong winds are causing power lines to break.
A yellow weather warning for complicated weather conditions is in effect until the end of November 26.
