IGSU employees on duty on New Year's Eve
More than 470 employees of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), with 150 technical units, are ready to intervene in risky situations on New Year's Eve. Rescuers and firefighters will be active 24 hours a day for rescue missions, but also actions to prevent exceptional situations.
People are urged to strictly observe the fire prevention rules, especially regarding the use of heating sources and the operation of installations powered by natural gas. "Firefighters ask citizens not to overheat stoves and put out the fire during the night. Moreover, people who use electric heating devices also benefit from the recommendations. In order to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning, rescuers warn of the danger of faulty or unauthorised installations", the IGSU press release states.
At the same time, to prevent a fire, the fire department urges citizens to be very careful when installing and positioning the Christmas tree.
Separate attention must also be paid to minors, especially during the winter holidays. Thus, in conditions of oscillating temperatures, adults are urged to strictly monitor children and not allow them to be near rivers and water pools.
In situations of risk, people are urged to urgently call the 112 service.
