Minister of Agriculture will go to Brussels and will request financial support for farmers from the EU
After more than three hours of talks with farmers, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vladimir Bolea announces that he will go to Brussels to request repeated financial support from European officials. According to him, tomorrow the representatives of the relevant ministry will discuss with the employees of the National Bank of Moldova about the rescheduling of loans.
Farmers request that the moratorium for the payment of loans to banks be approved this week.
We remind that, previously, Minister Vladimir Bolea emphasized that a working group will be created that will analyze the list of farmers who are at risk of bankruptcy and who need compensation from the state. Yesterday, the Parliament Speaker, Igor Grosu, mentioned on our radio station that the authorities must find solutions and come up with an answer to the demands of the farmers.
We remind you that the farmers' protests, which started last week in the Great National Assembly Square, were stopped until Tuesday, November 28, after a discussion of the Council Representatives of the Farmers' Force Association with the Minister of Agriculture, Vladimir Bolea. Thus, it was decided to form a Commission that will evaluate the situation in agriculture, implicitly the farmers' problems because of which they went out to protest.
Farmers' demands remain the same as previously announced. They request the Government to introduce a moratorium on the payment of debts to all creditors with the cancellation of penalties from the banks until October 31, 2024.
They also demand that next year, 50% of the National Agricultural and Rural Development Fund will be granted as a direct payment for the areas of sunflower and corn cultivated in the year 2023.
