Moldova reiterates commitment to combating corruption

Moldova remains steadfast in its commitment to tackling corruption and implementing the recommendations of the European Commission on the Rule of Law and the Venice Commission, Justice Minister Veronica Mihailov-Moraru affirmed during a recent encounter with Mark Horton, deputy director of the European Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Discussions between the officials centred on the current state of the justice system, the progress made in judicial reforms, and the challenges encountered, along with the advancements in the pre-vetting and vetting processes, as outlined in a press release from the relevant ministry.

"Moldova remains unwavering in its dedication to combating corruption and implementing the recommendations of the European Commission on the Rule of Law and the Venice Commission," Minister Mihailov-Moraru remarked. "We are resolute in our pursuit of ambitious reforms, with the unwavering support of our partners, to streamline and enhance criminal procedures and judicial review, as well as to strengthen recovery mechanisms."

Echoing this sentiment, Horton expressed the IMF's continued commitment to supporting Moldova's efforts to consolidate the rule of law.
