Maia Sandu: Government will support families with children to give them better chances of development
Russia's war against Ukraine strongly affected the economy of the Republic of Moldova, and during this period the authorities are with families with children, the country's president Maia Sandu said today. The Head of State mentioned that in these difficult conditions, the Government will continue to support families to give them better chances of development.
"The government is with families with small children. You know that a monthly allowance of 1,000 lei has been established for raising the child up to the age of 2. In this difficult period, I want us not to lose sight of the most vulnerable category, that of children at risk, of vulnerable families, of children with disabilities or those left without parental protection. They need all of us for help, but also for better chances of development", said the Moldovan president Maia Sandu.
We remind you that, in 2022, the relevant ministry signed a Memorandum with UNICEF Moldova, which provided for the allocation of over 200 million lei. The money was used to hire more than 800 personal assistants for children with severe disabilities and provide a pay rise for 1,200 social workers.
