Japan will offer a grant of 1.9 million euros to provide Moldovan farmers with fertilizers
A grant agreement, in the amount of 1.9 million euros, between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Government of Japan regarding the realization of the project "Farmers' Insurance with Fertilizers" was signed today in Chisinau.
The signing of the agreement prooves the support provided by Japan for the development of our country, especially the mitigation of the negative impact caused by the war in Ukraine, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Nicu Popescu. He also emphasized that this agreement strengthens the capacity of our agricultural sector.
"The agreement signed today once again prooves Japan's support for the development of our country, for mitigating the negative impact and strengthens the ability of our society, our economy and our agricultural sector, our farmers to continue to develop, modernize, including in this difficult context to overcome the negative effects on the agricultural sector."
For his part, the Ambassador of Japan in Chisinau, Yamada Yoichiro, stated that his country wants the Republic of Moldova to develop and prosper. Thus, Japan will continue to support it, including in the European integration process.
"The ¥300 million grant will support Moldovan farmers by providing them with complex fertilizers at affordable prices. Reforms in the Republic of Moldova began before it was granted the status of a candidate for the European Union. Japan noticed your effort and supports you".
" Farmers Insurance with Fertilizers” Project will be implemented by the Agency for the Development and Modernization of Agriculture. We remind that this year ten companies from the agri-food sector and ten from the non-agri-food sector in our country have benefited from grants worth 20,000 dollars each, financial assistance granted through the UNDP project " Multidimensional response to emerging human security challenges in Moldova ”, funded by the Government of Japan.
