Emergency ends, Moldova charts new course
Moldova's state of emergency, instituted at the onset of the Ukraine war, will officially draw to a close on December 31st, Prime Minister Dorin Recean confirmed on TV8.
The move signals a shift towards managing crisis situations within existing legal frameworks, though additional legislative tweaks are expected this week.
"We have introduced sufficient legislative modifications during the state of emergency to adequately equip the country for potential crises," Recean stated.
The decision signifies a gradual return to normalcy, despite the ongoing regional instability. The state of emergency, initially declared on February 24th, 2022, has been repeatedly extended since then, with the most recent renewal occurring on December 1st.
"The modifications implemented during this period have sufficiently strengthened our capabilities in navigating crisis scenarios," Recean further asserted.
