VIDEO // Russian army accidentally bombed a Russian village, located 150 kilometers from the border with Ukraine
An explosive charge carried by a Russian army plane was accidentally detonated on Tuesday in a village 150 kilometers from the border with Ukraine, AFP and News.ro report.
The Russian Ministry of Defense acknowledged the accidental bombing of the village in western Russia, not far from the border with Ukraine, but stated that there were no casualties.
Citing an "accidental explosion of a munition" carried by an air force plane, the ministry told Russian news agencies that an explosion rocked the village of Petropavlovka in the Voronezh region, 150 km from Ukraine, around 9 a.m. on Tuesday.
"No injuries were reported, but seven buildings were destroyed," regional governor Aleksandr Gusev said on Telegram, adding that some residents had to be accommodated in reception centers.
Russia, which has stepped up its bombing of Ukraine in recent days, carried out a new series of strikes on Tuesday morning, killing at least five people and injuring more than 100 in the neighboring country.
In case you missed it, a powerful Russian missile fell today in a Petropavlovka district of Voronezh, south Russia. Authorities are hiding casualties. Look at the amount of damage just one missile did. Russia is sending hundreds of these at Ukrainian cities. pic.twitter.com/jN2PlFIwuP
