Strong crosswinds and heavy snowfall thwarted attempts to de-ice planes, a crucial safety measure before takeoff.

"De-icing procedures are impossible under these weather conditions," explained the airport in a statement. "Therefore, flight departures are currently suspended until further notice."

The extent of the delays remained unclear, with passengers urged to check flight schedules online before heading to the airport. Frustration mounted among some travellers, while others expressed understanding for the safety concerns.

"It's obviously annoying, but I'd rather wait than risk anything on an icy plane," commented one passenger.

Airport officials assured travellers that flights will resume as soon as weather conditions allow for safe de-icing. Until then, the wait continues for hundreds of passengers hoping to take to the skies.
