The alleged incident at the Moldovan-Ukrainian border, on the segment to the left of the Nistru, has not been officially confirmed
The self-proclaimed authorities from Tiraspol reported "shootings" on the border with Ukraine on January 7. Chisinau authorities and the Ukrainian Border Service do not confirm this incident.
The so-called security ministry on the left side of the Nistru announced, yesterday, that on January 7 there was an exchange of gunfire on the border with Ukraine and that two people from the region were transported to the territory of Ukraine. The information has not been officially confirmed by the Chisinau authorities, the main consultant of the Reintegration Policy Bureau, Mariana Sarî, told Radio Moldova.
"There is no confirmed information in this regard, through official channels. We reiterate the need for information from credible and official sources of the competent public authorities".
The incident was qualified as a provocation by the Ukrainian side. The spokesperson of the Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Andrei Demcenko, states that the border police did not record such an incident on the Transnistrian segment of the border with the Republic of Moldova. According to him, the region is "a pro-Russian enclave", and the statements of the alleged authorities in Tiraspol are aimed at accusing Ukraine.
