Deafening silence? Moldova amplifies inclusion
Moldova's classrooms are gearing up for an inclusive revolution in 2024. Education Minister Dan Perciun, huddled with advisors on disability rights, unveiled a roadmap: 10 million lei ($0.177 million) pumped into resource centres for children with hearing impairments, just the first step in levelling the educational playing field.
"Every child deserves a quality education," Perciun declared, the echo bouncing off walls brimming with specialised equipment and assistive technologies. The traditional funding formula for schools is getting a makeover, too, ensuring resources flow to where they're needed most, regardless of zip code or socioeconomic status.
This isn't just about ink on paper or shiny gadgets. It's about breaking down barriers, silencing the whispers of exclusion, and letting every child's potential sing – a symphony in sign language, braille, and boundless possibility. It's a story Moldova is determined to write, chapter by chapter, in the classrooms of 2024.
