Mărculești International Airport to be modernized. Two world-renowned operators want to invest
Mărculeşti International Airport could be modernized and used as a logistics hub for the transportation of goods necessary for the reconstruction of the infrastructure in Ukraine. The statements were made on a TV station by the director of the Investment Agency, Marin Ciobanu.
According to him, two world-renowned operators want to invest in Mărculești. Marin Ciobanu says that the modernization of the Airport would serve as an impetus for the development of the entire northern region, as large international operators contact services and products from local companies. The head of the Investment Agency believes that offering Mărculești Airport to the management of foreign companies is the best way to develop it. Currently, the Airport is under the management of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development. It has an area of over 265 hectares and was previously used to service aircraft belonging to the Armed Forces. In the last 2-3 years, the airport recorded losses of 2 million euros annually.
