Mihai Popșoi, on the start of EU accession negotiations: the Republic of Moldova must complete all the conditionalities by March
The Republic of Moldova is ready to start accession negotiations to the European Union, but it must complete by March the conditionalities that have not yet been met, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mihai Popșoi, in the show "La 360 de grade" on Radio Moldova.
The official emphasized that Chisinau is waiting for the next stage, which provides for the explanation of how the negotiation process will proceed.
"Until March, we must complete the remaining conditionalities so that we could proceed to this stage. We hope that even by then that intermediate period will begin during which the European Union makes an up-to-date assessment of our capacity and an equally intermediate period, the explanation phase through which the European Union informs us to prepare better for the negotiation process and we hope this process will start as soon as possible. On our part, we have made every effort to ensure that the commitments we have made are delivered", declared Mihai Popșoi.
We remind you that, in December, the European Council decided to open the accession negotiations of the Republic of Moldova to the EU bloc. Our country is to implement the legislation and standards of the European Union in all 35 negotiation chapters.
