Kuleba: Ukraine will seek to get weapons from other sources
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said that if Ukraine does not receive the required amount of artillery ammunition from one place, it will work to secure its supply from other sources, RBC reports, citing Rador.
"There is no situation that does not have a solution. If we don't get enough ammunition from one place, we work on another, where we can get it," the minister told BBC Newsnight.
Kuleba emphasized that, regardless of the price of the support given to Kiev by the partners, the price of ensuring peace could be many times higher if Ukraine does not win the war with Russia. The diplomat added that Ukraine continues to work with both parties in the United States to secure funding for the assistance. "The EU is demonstrating its ability to make big decisions on its own, which is good. We also continue to work with both parties in the US to ensure that the necessary decisions are made," the minister stressed.
RBC notes that at the end of last winter, Ukrainian troops were facing a shortage of artillery shells. Therefore, at the beginning of May, the EU Council decided to provide Ukraine with assistance worth one billion euros for joint procurement of ammunition and missiles. The plan called for European countries to supply Ukraine with one million shells by March 2024.
In addition to direct deliveries from the warehouses of EU member states, joint purchases of shells were also organized. EU countries, however, could not fully implement this plan. According to Bloomberg, by March, the EU will supply Ukraine with 600,000 shells.
