EU grants 83 million euros to people affected by the war in Ukraine. 8 million are intended for the Republic of Moldova
The European Union offers first humanitarian aid in the amount of 75 million euros to Ukraine and 8 million euros to the Republic of Moldova, to support, again this year, the most vulnerable people affected by the war started by Russia in the neighboring state. The announcement was made by the Commissioner for Crisis Management, Janez Lenarčič, who pointed out that almost 40% of Ukrainians depend on humanitarian aid.
According to the European official, financial support in the total amount of 83 million euros is given to Ukrainians, including for shelter, clean water, education and medical assistance, and to the Republic of Moldova, for humanitarian projects, which provide assistance to the most vulnerable people, including cash for strict necessity, protection and healthcare.
Janez Lenarčič said that the European Union will continue to closely monitor the evolution of existing needs, to react to the most pressing humanitarian challenges, and that the commitment to the Ukrainian people is stronger than ever.
