Klaus Iohannis organizes consultations with parties to designate Romania's new prime minister

President Klaus Iohannis will hold consultations with parliamentary parties on Sunday at Cotroceni Palace to designate a candidate for prime minister. PSD, PNL, UDMR and minorities will go together to the consultations. USR, AUR, SOS Romania and POT will have separate meetings, digi24.ro writes.

The consultations take place on Sunday, December 22, 2024, according to the following schedule:

12:00: - Social Democratic Party (PSD); National Liberal Party (PNL); Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR); Parliamentary Group of National Minorities. 12:30 – Alliance for the Unity of Romanians (AUR); 1:00 PM – Union Salvati România (USR); 1:30 PM – S.O.S. Romania Party; 14:00 - Young People's Party (POT).

Before the start of the consultations at Cotroceni, PSD, PNL and UDMR must overcome the deadlock in the negotiations, which is related to the division of two ministries. Also, at this moment, it is not clear what name the pro-European coalition will go with for prime minister.
