Young Leaders in Moldova Meet at National Congress
Dozens of young mayors and local councillors from throughout Moldova participated in the National Congress of Young Mayors and Local Councilors today.

Those present exchanged experiences and discussed pressing issues within their communities. Additionally, the Platform of Young Mayors and Local Councils was launched during the congress, according to a news report.
Veronica Sîrbu, one of Moldova's youngest local councillors from the village of Sireți, Strășeni district, emphasises her daily efforts to improve her professional skills.
"With limited experience at 20 years old and in my first term, understanding certain laws is challenging. Experience takes time, and that was our biggest hurdle – it takes time to adapt and learn," said Veronica Sîrbu, councillor, Sireți village.
The event was attended by young mayors and local councillors nationwide.
"Winning the elections in my first term was difficult, but not impossible. We worked hard to show that young people can also change our communities. We have ideas, and people can trust us," said Tudor Camerzan, mayor of Filipeni.
"This is an opportunity to connect young people within local governments and councils. It allows them to meet, exchange ideas, and initiate projects. Communication fosters new opportunities," said Victor Chironda, municipal councillor.
The Platform of Young Mayors and Local Councilors, launched during the congress, will support local authorities in developing projects and gaining experience.
"The Platform helps amplify their efforts at the local level. It serves as a space for them to communicate and unite, something we see they need. Being young and in new positions, a communication space is essential," said Teodora Panuș, president of CNTM.
The Congress was organised by the National Youth Council of Moldova with the support of the European Endowment for Democracy.
