Experience the Magic of Moldova's "Martisor" Festival

Today marks the inauguration of the 58th edition of the "Martisor" International Music Festival.

The agenda of this important cultural event includes over 60 performances of different genres, which will take place both in Chisinau and 43 other localities in the nation. The opening concert will take place at the "Nicolae Sulac" National Palace.

The "Martisor" International Music Festival, the longest-running and most prestigious musical event in the nation, comes with annual novelties in both its directorial concept and repertoire format. Thus, tonight, in addition to the traditional opening concert, for the first time in its history, the Festival will host an electronic music show - "Electric Spring" , at the Chisinau Arena.

Thus, "Martisor" is reinventing itself and becoming a bridge between traditional and innovative, a link between generations, said Minister of Culture Sergiu Prodan.

"This year the "Martisor" Festival comes with several novelties. We have a fresh graphic image that invites us to celebrate the magic of spring together, combining modernised tradition. Another novelty is related to the geography of the shows, for the first time, they will reach all 38 districts of the country. Throughout the month of March, every day, with the support of the Government and the Ministry of Culture, 43 concerts will be held in villages and towns," said Sergiu Prodan.

Minister Sergiu Prodan further mentioned that the "Martisor" Festival will extend its reach to the diaspora. Between March 6 and April 12, our compatriots in Portugal, Germany, Spain, the United Kingdom, Belgium, and Ireland are expected to attend the show "Steaua fără nume" (Nameless Star) by Mihail Sebastian, presented by the National Theater "Mihai Eminescu".

At the same time, several diaspora associations will independently organise concerts with the participation of artists from Chisinau.

We specify that today, starting at 18:10, Radio Moldova will broadcast live the Opening Concert of the 58th edition of the "Martisor" International Music Festival, with the theme "Martisor: The Magic of Spring".
