Dan Perciun: Around 400 kindergartens are overfunded
About 400 kindergartens in the Republic of Moldova have too few children, but they receive more money for their activity, claims the Minister of Education and Research, Dan Perciun. The official said that there is a deficit of over one billion lei in financing these preschool institutions.
"We have kindergartens that receive too little money to be able to reach the established quality standards. We also have kindergartens, around 300-400, which are overfunded, in other words, they have larger budgets than they should have to ensure the standards set. In all, the sub-financing volume of the system is around 1.2 billion lei. From the number of children, we are trying to determine the number of groups, staff numbers and estimate some average expenses for heating, other payments, food and get a financing formula," said Dan Perciun.
The Minister of Education pointed that there are approximately 1400 kindergartens in the Republic of Moldova, of which 235 have less than 20 children. According to the official, the most requested are kindergartens in Chisinau, where on average there are 24 children in the group, exceeding the norm. Dan Perciun also said that the number of pre-school children that falls to a teacher also varies, in some regions it is eight, and in others - 14.
