Romania extended by 6 months the agreement with the Republic of Moldova regarding the coordinated control at the Albița border crossing point
The Bucharest executive decided in Thursday's meeting to extend for another 6 months, i.e. until October 15, 2024, the validity of the Agreement between the Government of Romania and the Government of the Republic of Moldova regarding the coordinated control on the territory of Romania at the Border Crossing Point (PTF) Albița (Romania) – Leușeni (Republic of Moldova) by road, on the way to enter Romania, reports Agerpres.
According to a press release from the Romanian Government, the purpose of implementing coordinated control is to streamline the flow of people, means of transport and goods that cross the state border through the respective border crossing point.
"The initial period of application of the Agreement was April 15, 2023-October 15, 2023, being extended for a period of 6 months, in the period October 15, 2023-April 15, 2024. Following the controls carried out at this border point, during the implementation of the Agreement, an improvement in traffic was found, in the sense of a decrease in the average waiting time for the flow of people, an aspect that is not found in terms of the flow of means of transport. In this sense, it is necessary to extend this agreement by another 6 months, in order to simplify, to streamline and to coordinate the control of border traffic", reads the press release.
At the same time, consideration will be given to the reorganization, as appropriate, of the flow of means of transport entering Romania, in the context of the implementation of projects aimed at the purchase of specific control equipment at the border crossing, after carrying out a joint analysis, of the authorities involved, as well as the consequential
