Biden Coordinates Diplomatic Response to Iran's Assault
The United States shall refrain from engaging in any offensive endeavours against Iran, as affirmed by American President Joe Biden during a telephonic exchange with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as reported by CNN.
This evening, Israel should perceive as a triumph, as per current U.S. assessments indicating the failure of Iran's attacks and the demonstration of Israel's superior military prowess, further articulated by the White House leader.
According to U.S. intelligence, all drones and missiles launched by Iran were neutralised in the airspace. No cruise missile inflicted damage, and no significant targets were hit.
President Joe Biden of the United States is scheduled to convene with G7 leaders on Sunday, aiming "to coordinate a cohesive diplomatic response to Iran's chaotic assault," according to an official statement released by the White House.
"My team will engage with their counterparts in the region. Additionally, we will maintain close communication with Israeli leaders. Although there have been no attacks on our forces or facilities today, we will remain vigilant against all threats and will not hesitate to take all necessary measures to safeguard our people," reads President Biden's statement.
Israeli Defense Systems
There are few countries as prepared as Israel for an Iranian airstrike, considering its arsenal and experience with affiliated militant groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah.
The most renowned air defence capability of Israel is the Iron Dome – a short-range system that intercepted thousands of rockets and drones launched by both groups in recent years.
To counter medium and long-range missiles or drones, Israel deployed the David's Sling system in 2017.
In addition to these domestically developed air defence systems, Israel also operates Patriot air defence systems manufactured in the USA, with a reported range of up to 160 kilometres, capable of intercepting most types of missiles.
It's worth recalling that on the night of April 13-14, Iran launched a sudden attack on Israel in response to "Israeli aggression against the diplomatic headquarters in Damascus."
