Moldova Rehires Dismissed Chisinau Assistants
Personal assistants in Chisinau municipality, who were previously dismissed by the municipal authorities, will be rehired by the Agency for Management of Highly Specialized Social Services.
The Cabinet of Ministers approved a decision in this regard on April 17, 2024, presented by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection.
According to the Minister of Labor and Social Protection, Alexei Buzu, the authorities will sign new contracts with the assistants starting in May. The Ministry will also pay a compensatory payment to all dismissed assistants for the months of March and April.
This decision comes after a series of disagreements between the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection and the Chisinau City Hall regarding the assistants' employment and compensation. The City Hall had announced that due to budget constraints, it could not afford to keep the assistants employed.
The new "Personal Assistance" social service will be established within the Agency for Management of Highly Specialized Social Services. This service will provide assistance to individuals in cases where local public administration authorities are unable to do so.
